Lara O'Brien, of Sugar Land, TX, graduated Magna Cum Laude with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Economics/Business and History with minors in Classical Studies and Ethics from Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Virginia. She was inducted into R-MC's Phi Beta Kappa chapter and received the prestigious John B. and Anita S. Werner Award, which is given annually to one or two graduating seniors who have been elected to PBK and who have made especially outstanding contributions to the college. O'Brien is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas E. O'Brien of Sugar Land, TX.

242 students received degrees from R-MC on Saturday, May 26, 2012. Yvonne W. Brandon '76, Ed.D., superintendent of Richmond (VA) Public Schools, delivered the commencement address and honorary degrees were conferred on attorney Everette G. "Buddy" Allen Jr. '62 and actress Daphne Maxwell Reid.
